Report from Virginia! (Thank you - I sadly missed last week's treat due to forgetting to set my alarm.)
For our run on Sept. 6 (Labor Day weekend) we're planning to meet in front of the Glasshouse apartments to visit the newly opened Highline and also run across the Fort Pitt Bridge and into Point State Park.
The Glasshouse (map) is the new development right next to the end of the Smithfield Bridge on the South Side, near Station Square. There usually are parallel parking spots along the front of the complex (go over the Smithfield Bridge from Downtown, before then end take a sharp right into Station Square and immediately turn right underneath the bridge into the front of the Glasshouse apts.)
There is a Crazy Mocha in the Bessemer Court at Station Square that is supposed to open at 8 a.m. on Sundays, or just bring your own.
The run: Gretchen and Beth led us on a fabulous run through suburban back trails and by Potter's Pond and Pine Creek in McCandless. We enjoyed coffee, Jeff's blueberry muffins and good conversation on Gretchen's back patio. (Thanks, Gretchen!) The best story of the day was Elaine's harrowing adventure with the rolling crockpot.
The walk: (from Paula): Mary Versa and I had a lovely walk this morning with Wendy, Max and Linda – kind of a ‘new age’ ‘alternate’ walk. [Intriguing - tell us more this Sunday!]
