I heard from my sources who were on last Sunday's run that Julie will lead the April 22 run and it will start at the intersection of Dallas and Wilkins.

Apr 8 Run: Wendy Bennett Trailhead
The run next Sunday, April 8th, will begin at the Wendy Bennett Trailhead, where Overlook Drive enters Schenley park near where Bartlett, Hobart, Blvd of the Allies and Greenfield Rd. come together.
Since the weather is predicted to be warm through Tuesday, and then turn cold, we decided to add in another mid-week run on Tues. this week leaving from the Forbes and Murray 'library' corner at 5:45am. Wed. run will also take place as usual.
Today's run through Frick Park was very pleasant, despite a light rain that started just when Tom predicted it would!

Mar 31 Run: Colfax School
The run on the last day of March 2007 will start at Colfax School.
Karen lead us on a serene run through a fog shrouded Frick Park this past Sunday which at times looked like a forest in some far away land. Wendy, fresh in from Hawaii, missed the run but joined Karen, Julie, Pam and I for a very enjoyable coffee hour.
I will not be in Pittsburgh for any of the Sundays in April (a combination of business and pleasure trips) so I will rely on someone (Elaine? Paula? Teri?) to either send me the location of the Sunday runs or just send out the information to the group. I can post the info to the Blog. I had not realized how much I would be away when I requested that some runs be postponed until I returned. Please ignore my whining and schedule wildly.

We had a cold but pleasant run through Homewood Cemetery. Next time I will try to oblige Tom and have us face the sun as it rises over Homestead ;-)

March 11 Run: Coffee Tree
REMINDER: Turn your clocks forward Saturday night (Spring forward!).
Because this may cause great drowsiness we chose an easy to remember meeting place: The Coffee Tree on Forbes in Sq. Hill. The route will be determined by consensus or whoever is alert enough to lead.
Tom lead us on a pleasant meat and potatoes run. Paula disappeared (really she just left early to get home and chauffeur kids). We all thought about Elaine returning home from her sojourn in Israel. And after a dry spell, we had a lovely visit over coffee in which we did learn something but of course, I forget what it was!
P.S. I will be on a plane headed for Austin, TX on Sunday. Could someone please send me the location of the post-St. Patrick Day's run?

Mar 4 Run: Tom's House - redo
Tom says:
"If a man awakes at 6:00a.m.and no one appears to run, does he still run? No. I'll take it again and we will try to do it sans ice."
Tom's house is at 5434 Aylesboro (near Forbes Ave).
Actually Paula did run to Tom's house although she was late getting there and when she saw no signs of life she ran home, only falling once (ouch!).
I don't know about you, but I was out of sorts all day without my Sunday fix of running group companionship!

Feb 25 Run: Tom's House
Tom will lead next Sunday's run. He is hoping that warmer temperatures this week will permit a run on the park trails. Start at his house: 5434 Aylesboro (near Forbes Ave).
For the fourth Sunday in a row a small group of us ran through yet another "winter wonderland" although it was not as bitterly cold. Today's run included a very snowy view from Schenley Oval, many more up-hills than down-hills, Tom's discourse on the correct definition of a blizzard and a brick house painted bright yellow which sparked some interesting conversation.
Sharon gets the running group consistency award for being the only one to turn up for Wednesday's morning run.
Wishes for safe travels and a good trip go to Elaine who leaves tomorrow for a 2 week trip to Israel to visit her daughter.

Feb 11 Run: Reynolds and Murtland
Karen will take us on a run through Chatham this coming Sunday, Feb 11. Meet at the corner of Reynolds and Murtland in Point Breeze.
Four of us braved the cold this morning and were rewarded by a sparkling clear view of the city from Schenley Oval. Yes, Tom did wear tights and Elaine taught us how to warm up our hands.

Feb 4 Run: Wendy Benett Trailhead
In celebration of the slight increase in morning light as well as a return to a "regular" rather than "exotic" run, this coming Sunday's run will start at the Wendy Benett Trail Head at the corner of the Boulevard of the Allies and Bartlett Street.
Those hardy few who ran to the run (Elaine and this secretary) and who ran the run (Tom and Wendy) were rewarded by a marvelously quirky run through the South Side. We learned about the efficient and grubby Duke's Tires which sits across the park from the quaint Victorian Tea Room. We ran by the new WYEP building, past European flavored row houses, Kay's office and many tempting restaurants including the new Double Wide Grill (http://www.post-gazette.com/pg/07011/752677-242.stm) - which surprisingly enough does not seem to be a chain AND serves vegan food! It was definitely one of the group's more memorable runs.

Jan 28 Run: UPMC South Side
This coming Sunday's run will start at parking lot at UPMC South Side - turn left just after you cross the Hot Metal Bridge. Tom promised to come so that there will transportation back for those that run to the run :-)
Run to the Run will start at the Coffee Tree in Squirrel Hill at 6:20AM. My notes say that it takes 40 minutes to run from the "J" corner and mapquest says it is 2.9 miles from the Coffee Tree to UPMC - I am going with the conservative estimate of 40 mins figuring we won't leave exactly at 6:20.
Thank-you to Teri for bringing the yummy homemade biscotti for the coffee gathering and to Susan for tempting us with stories of adult summer camp in Utah!

MLK Run AND Jan 21 Sunday Run: Coffee Tree
For all of you lucky enough to be off work tomorrow, Jan 15, there will be a run starting at 8:00 AM at the Coffee Tree.
Elaine will take us on the historical "Bird Run" this coming Sunday, Jan 21. It will also start at the Coffee Tree.
Today's run was rainy but surprisingly well-attended. We continued our progress toward continuing education credits over coffee where Susan Hunt and our newest member Paula Leslie (welcome!), provided us with some thought-provoking discussion.

January 14 Run: Mellon Park Playground
Virginia will lead the January 14th Sunday run through Shadyside. It will start at the Playground on 5th Avenue where Beechwood meets 5th Avenue - near the tennis bubble.

January 7 Run: Tazzo D'Oro, Highland Park
Next Sunday's run will start at Tazzo D'Oro at 1125 N. Highland Ave and wander through Highland Park (we will make it up as we go).
