This coming Sunday meet at Colfax School for a run in Frick Park.
Today was yet another in the amazing (for Pittsburgh) series of clear, cool, and sunny Sunday morning runs. We followed a herd of deer and flock of turkeys as we wound our way through the historic graves of Allegheny Cemetery. I can not adequately convey how the beauty of the early morning sun on the trees coupled with the echos of past combined to create a kind of other-worldly feel. Of course there was also lighter talk of ballet and tutus as we pondered an alternative to Swan Lake: Deer Park.
Note for the record book: It took us about 35 minutes to run from Wilkins and Shady to the gates of the Cemetery. We ran through Chatham , over to Negley to Friendship Ave then headed up to Penn Ave right by West Penn Hospital.
Once in the cemetery we followed the Green Line almost to the Butler Street Entrance where we picked up the double Green Line which took us back to Penn Ave. From there we took the lavender line to the "Garden of Peace" and then returned.
We last ran in the Cemetery on August 13, 2006
